Greater Dandenong City Council has been honoured for its exceptional dedication to sustainability, receiving the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards.
The awards recognise environmental accomplishments and a strong community spirit across Victoria, celebrating projects that empower residents, change behaviours, protect the environment, reduce waste, involve youth and Indigenous communities, and build resilience.
The Council’s Waste Services team earned the award for the ‘Bin It or Take It Home With You’ campaign, which focuses on educating the community about proper litter disposal while highlighting the environmental harm caused by littering.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam. “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”
