CTA Proposes Fare Hike Amid Potential Service Cuts
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has proposed a 25-cent fare hike, which would increase the cost of a bus ride from $2.25 to $2.50 and a train ride from $2.50 to $2.75, starting February 1.
According to CTA's new budget recommendations, the fare increase will occur regardless of the outcome in Springfield, where lawmakers are seeking to address a massive budget gap facing Chicago-area transit agencies.
