The club's history began in 1984 with a nine-hole course plan as part of the Arbutus Ridge Living Community project. The 225-acre site was purchased by Canadian Retirement Corporation Developments in 1986.
The golf course was designed by Bill Robinson of Cornish & Robinson and construction started on March 17, 1987. The course officially opened on May 13, 1988.
By the fall of 1988, an additional 52 acres of land were acquired, expanding the club's facilities.
