A recent report by the Movember Institute of Men’s Health and the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI) highlights the sad reality of premature male deaths in Ireland.
- 7,453 males died prematurely in Ireland in 2022, accounting for 40.2% of all male deaths.
- The leading causes of premature death were:
- Cancers
- Diseases of the circulatory system
- Respiratory system diseases
- Digestive system diseases
- External causes of injury and poisoning, including accidents and suicides
- Premature death is 40% higher among males than females, with this gap remaining relatively consistent over time.
