MS warns of Wales facing “industrialisation by stealth” with proposed wind farms

Warning of "Industrialisation by Stealth" in Wales

James Evans MS has warned that Wales faces "industrialisation by stealth" due to 70 proposed onshore wind farm projects across the country.

Five of these proposals are located in Brecon & Radnorshire, including major schemes at Aberedw, Nant Mithil, Bryn Gilwern, Garreg Fawr, and Banc y Celyn, totaling over 100 turbines, each exceeding 200 meters in height.

The First Minister compared Powys's potential contribution to net zero targets to South Wales's historic coal mining industry, stating: "15,000 jobs are going to be created as a result of renewable energy. That is not something I'm going to apologise for."

Author's summary: Wales faces "industrialisation by stealth" with numerous wind farm proposals.
