Pro-Palestine Protests Across Australia

Thousands of people have taken to the streets across Australia to express ongoing support for the Palestinian people and skepticism about the recently brokered ceasefire deal's longevity.

Tens of thousands of people gathered in cities and towns across Australia on Sunday, promising to continue their support for Palestine even as the ceasefire appears to hold.

Palestine Action Group organiser Josh Lees said, "We'll absolutely continue to protest for a free Palestine … for self-determination in Gaza, for aid to be allowed in and for Palestinians to be able to rebuild Gaza."

According to the ABC, one attendee at the Adelaide protest said,

"I think the consensus among everyone here is that the ceasefire is not to be trusted"

Victorian Senator Lidia Thorpe spoke at the rally in Melbourne, sparking controversy by stating,

"We will fight every day,"
and
"And if I have to burn down Parliament House to make a point"
