Sustainable Aviation Fuel Unlikely to Make Near-Term Impact
Thinktank Carbon Tracker has expressed doubts about the effectiveness of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as a decarbonisation route.
If all existing, under-development and announced projects ran at capacity, they would only be able to displace 5% of fossil jet fuel by 2030
A new report from Carbon Tracker suggests that SAF will not provide a near-term solution for the decarbonisation of the commercial aviation industry.
- The report, "Fuel Disclosure | Sustainable. Feasible", recognises the use of alternative jet fuels in future decarbonisation but downplays claims that SAF could be a short-term solution.
