A 23-year-old cab driver, Amanpreet Brar, has been charged with three offenses under the Territorial Motor Vehicles Act following a fatal collision on September 28.
The collision occurred on the Alaska Highway adjacent to the Crestview neighbourhood in Whitehorse around 10:30 p.m., resulting in the death of 64-year-old Ricky John and his dog.
According to the RCMP, Brar allegedly
crossed a double solid line, driving left of the centre line and carelessly driving.
Brar, who was driving a southbound minivan taxicab with a passenger, and the passenger were hospitalized after the collision.
Brar is scheduled to make his first court appearance on November 18 in Whitehorse.
