One-Legged Laramie Hunter Bags Antelope, Plans To Build Prosthetic Rifle Rest

Randy Svalina's Inspirational Hunt

Randy Svalina of Laramie, despite having a new prosthetic leg, went on a solo antelope hunt and successfully bagged a buck.

Svalina, who has been dealing with medical hardships since his bone cancer diagnosis in 2002, was determined not to miss this year's antelope season.

He and his doctor are now discussing designing the prosthetic to double as a hunting rifle rest.

Svalina's wife, Stacy, had accompanied him on a hunt on Sept. 28, where she shot an antelope buck. The next day, Svalina decided to go out on his own, crawling much of the way, and eventually getting his own buck.

His wife later helped him remove prairie cactus spikes from his legs. Svalina's sense of humor remained strong throughout the experience.

Author's note: Randy Svalina shows determination and humor.
