Two tornadoes touched down in Jackson County on Sunday, causing damage to homes and leaving debris, but no reported injuries.
An EF-1 tornado with winds of 95 miles per hour ripped through Gautier, causing significant damage to homes and apartments.
“I was in bed and I got up to look out back and saw everything flying around. I said, ‘That’s a tornado,’”
said 75-year-old Janet Estis, whose home was damaged. The storm knocked down her back fence, blew out a window, and ripped limbs off a tree in her front yard, with a large limb landing on her roof.
Estis rode out the storm in her safe place, a bathroom.
