New ‘Pay One, Stay Two’ parking deal to boost Waverley town centres

New Parking Deal to Boost Waverley Town Centres

Waverley Borough Council is trialing a new parking initiative, "Pay One, Stay Two", to encourage longer visits and increased spending in local shops, cafés, and restaurants.

The scheme, developed with Haslemere Town Council and the BIDs in Farnham, Cranleigh, and Godalming, offers a second hour of parking free when a one-hour ticket is purchased on Wednesdays, from 1pm to 10pm.

"We know that simply increasing footfall isn't enough – what matters is encouraging people to stay longer and spend more in our fantastic independent shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants. This new 'Pay One, Stay Two' offer is a smart, targeted way to do just that."

Cllr Tony Fairclough, Waverley Borough Council portfolio holder for enforcement and regulatory services, made the statement.

The initiative is part of a wider strategy to support local businesses and attract more shoppers and diners to town centres.
