Disparities in PsA Burden and Treatment Linked to Geographic and Social Factors

Disease activity and multimorbidity among patients in the US with PsA varied based on geographic region, socioeconomic deprivation, race, and gender.

Geographic region, race, gender, and socioeconomic deprivation are linked to disparities in disease activity and treatment access among patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in the United States, according to study results published in Arthritis & Rheumatology.

Although PsA is known to be associated with obesity, cardiometabolic comorbidities, and disparities in access to advanced therapies, less is known about how these characteristics vary regionally across the US.

Researchers conducted a cross-sectional analysis of real-world data from the American College of Rheumatology’s Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness registry.

They evaluated differences in disease burden, social deprivation, and medication use among patients with PsA.

Author's summary: Disparities in PsA treatment linked to geographic and social factors.
