Draymond Green's Role in Blocking Lauri Markkanen Trade
The Golden State Warriors had considered trading for Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen, but Draymond Green reportedly shut down the talks.
Markkanen, a 7-feet tall forward, can stretch the floor, making him an ideal player for the Warriors. However, Green opposed the trade due to the potential cost.
Green told Mike Dunleavy and Joe Lacob not to trade for Markkanen because of what Golden State would have had to give up.
The Warriors' inability to have a stretch big has been an issue in recent seasons, but Green's intervention prevented a potential solution.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, the trade would have cost the Warriors $195 million.
