The Auburn Tigers fell to the Tennessee Volunteers, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon, dropping their third consecutive match and now boasting a 0-4 record against ranked opponents.
Despite being one of the tightest matches of the season, the Auburn Tigers (13-6, 4-4) were swept by the No. 16 Tennessee Volunteers (14-3, 5-2) in a 3-0 final at the Food City Center.
Tennessee opened the first set with a quick 6-0 lead, but Auburn countered, closing the gap to a 12-14 deficit. The middle and right sides of the Auburn offense found success, with Bel Zimmerman posting five kills and Grace Havlicek recording three.
The sweep marked the Tigers’ third consecutive loss, and they now rank ninth in the SEC.
Auburn had an impressive 4-1 start to conference play, but has since struggled.
