Phoenix experienced record-breaking weather on Saturday, with 0.7 inches of rain falling at Sky Harbor Airport, surpassing the previous record of 0.3 inches set nearly a century ago.
“Most areas got anywhere between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall with some areas — isolated areas — over an inch of rain,"
said Gabriel Lojero, a weather service meteorologist. The heavy rainfall did not affect the areas of Globe and Miami, which were devastated by intense flooding last month. A flood watch has been issued for Phoenix, extending to Sunday night.
