Amazon and Arable join MSU to deliver irrigation solutions
Mississippi State is partnering with Amazon and Arable to help farmers conserve water and save money.
The partnership is part of Amazon's campaign to be water positive by 2030, with over 30 worldwide projects announced.
"The concern is more water is being pumped out than replenished,"
said Drew Gholson, a scientist with the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station.
- Increasing demand for permitted wells and irrigated acres is putting pressure on the Mississippi River Alluvial Aquifer (MRVA).
- The goal is to ensure the valuable resource is available for growers during low rainfall or drought periods.
