On Tuesday, October 14, flights at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) were delayed due to a cyber security incident.

The incident occurred between 5 p.m. and involved the hacking of public address systems and screens, displaying pro-Hamas messages.

"Free Palestine" and curses against the U.S. were among the messages broadcast over the speakers.

The airport team successfully removed the unauthorized messaging and restored flight information display screens, with work ongoing to restore the PA system.

According to the City of Kelowna, the incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
