State GOP Leaders Shut Down Kansas Young Republicans Chapter
GOP leaders in Kansas are shutting down the state's Young Republicans chapter after leaked chats revealed racist and antisemitic messages.
The messages, exchanged via Telegram, included thousands of conversations between young GOP leaders nationwide. According to Politico, two Kansas Young Republican leaders, Chair Alex Dwyer and Vice Chair Will Hendrix, were involved in the chats.
They referred to Black people as monkeys and "the watermelon people" and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.
Politico reported that leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country were worried about the potential consequences of their Telegram chat being leaked.
