Longtime Director of Family Christian Development Center Retires

Mark Mikel, the executive director of the Family Christian Development Center, also known as The Center, has retired after serving since 2014.

The Center is a faith-based non-profit organization in Nappanee, providing essential services to the community, including:

“We are the food pantry, rental utilities assistance, clothing closet, medication assistance, and we do baby immunizations for Nappanee, Wakarusa and Wa-Nee Community Schools,”

Mikel says. The Center was founded in 1996 by JoAnne and Larry Andrews, who were inspired by their faith to open the food pantry.

“And it’s always been based around the belief that sharing Christ’s love is what helps people not just meet their immediate needs but see some change in their lives,”

Mikel says. During his tenure, Mikel initiated improvements to The Center and
