School Board meeting brings financial discusssions, literacy development, project timeline to the table

School Board Meeting Discusses Financial Concerns and Literacy Development

The St. Joseph School District Board of Education met at Benton High School to discuss important agenda items, including financial discussions and literacy development.

Board President LaTonya Williams stated that the district is working to cut costs due to being over budget by more than a million dollars.

"I want for everybody, you know, to understand it's nothing nefarious," said Williams. "Things are already very, very difficult. We're doing the best that we can, you know, to navigate through everything."

Williams emphasized the district's commitment to financial responsibility and called for a financial audit in an August Board meeting, with an update expected in November, according to SJSD Superintendent Ashly McGinnis.
