Why Jays Challenged Out-of-Play Call vs Seattle Mariners
A bizarre play occurred in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, sparking a three-run fifth inning for the Seattle Mariners.
With the game tied 3-3, Randy Arozarena hit an infield single, and Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez made a spinning attempt to throw out Arozarena at first. However, Giménez's throw sailed wide and hit Mariners slugger Eugenio Suárez, who was sitting in the dugout.
The ball was initially ruled out of play, allowing Arozarena to advance to second.
