Days before this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company announced he will not attend the event because of health issues. The singer and guitarist shared the news on the band's official Instagram.
“My hope was to be at the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health,” Rodgers wrote. “I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. Simon along with some outstanding musicians will be stepping in for me – guaranteed to rock.”
Rodgers was scheduled to reunite on stage with Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke for the first time since 2019. However, due to Rodgers' health, this plan has changed.
“I’m not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don’t give a shit,” Kirke told Gold Derby about the intended performance.
The ceremony is taking place this weekend at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Alongside Bad Company, this year’s inductees include:
Simon Kirke, as the other surviving original member and co-founder of Bad Company, will represent the band during the induction.
Paul Rodgers prioritizes his health over performing at the Rock Hall ceremony, leaving Simon Kirke and other musicians to represent Bad Company for the first time since 2019.
