The Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to six games, their longest since the start of the 2023-24 season, with a 5-3 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena.
Holding a 4-3 lead in the third period, with the Maple Leafs pressing hard for an equalizer, former Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten scored just under four minutes remaining to secure the win for Boston.
"That’s my goal as a player," Minten said. "I want to be out there playing, so continuing to build on that and earn that trust and earn those minutes, that’s why I play the game.”
Minten, acquired from Toronto in last year’s trade deadline as part of the Brandon Carlo deal, has earned the trust of Bruins coach Marco Sturm and his staff. While he usually centers the third line, he is often promoted to the top line during critical moments.
Coach Sturm called Minten the player of the game, highlighting his growing importance to the team during crucial situations.
The Bruins’ win was nearly threatened when Maple Leafs’ William Nylander appeared to have tied the game. His shot bounced off the crossbar and the post but did not go in, causing confusion as the goal light briefly turned on and the crowd erupted.
The Bruins’ victory was clinched by Fraser Minten’s late goal, reflecting his rising role and trust within the team and helping Boston achieve their longest winning streak of the season.
