Shoshana Bean, known for playing Elphaba on Broadway from 2005 to 2006, shared why she has not yet watched the film Wicked: Part 1, despite the upcoming release of its sequel, Wicked: For Good.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean explained her decision:
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back.”
She added that she is “absolutely” eager to experience both movies in succession.
Bean is particularly looking forward to seeing the song “No Good Deed” brought to life on the big screen.
“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,” Bean said. “I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”
Bean's anticipation highlights the impact of translating stage performances to film, especially for iconic musical numbers.
