Panthers Basketball Secures Season-Opening Win

PITTSBURGH — The Pitt men's basketball team overcame an early deficit with a strong 14-3 run to close the first half and never looked back, defeating Youngstown State 74-59 in their 2025-26 season opener at the Petersen Events Center.

First Half Momentum Shift

Youngstown State held the lead in the early stages, but the Panthers seized their first lead at 20-19 on a three-point play by Cameron Corhen. Although Youngstown State responded with a 6-0 run, Pitt ramped up their defense to take control.

In the final 5:34 of the half, Youngstown State struggled offensively, going 1-of-7 with three turnovers. Pitt capitalized, using the 14-3 run to lead 34-28 at halftime.
