BOSTON (AP) — Pavel Zacha scored the decisive goal with just six seconds remaining in overtime, giving the Boston Bruins a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night. Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, serving as Boston’s backup this season, made 20 saves to secure the team’s fifth consecutive win.
Morgan Geekie and Sean Kuraly scored in the second period, helping the Bruins take a 2-1 lead. Claude Giroux evened the score midway through the third for Ottawa. In the final 30 seconds of regulation, former Bruin Linus Ullmark stopped a late Boston attempt to preserve the tie.
During overtime, Charlie McAvoy fired a low shot that slipped through Ullmark’s pads before Zacha skated in and pushed the puck into the net to clinch the win.
“The Bruins kept Jeremy Swayman and signed him to an eight-year, $66 million contract, with Korpisalo serving as backup,” the report noted.
The Bruins extended their winning streak to five games as Pavel Zacha’s dramatic overtime goal sealed a 3-2 victory over Ottawa, marking a strong resurgence after earlier struggles.
