Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé was announced on Thursday as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Now Elder Caussé, age 62, has served as the church's presiding bishop for the past 11 years. He was called to apostleship and ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks, the First Presidency, and members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
"I've always had a testimony of Jesus Christ," Elder Caussé said. "He's always been in the center of my life. And I know he's our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That's the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives."
He married Valérie Babin on August 5, 1986, in the Bern Switzerland Temple. His church service has involved living with his family in Germany and the United States.
Summary: Bishop Gérald Caussé, a lifelong disciple and experienced leader from France, has been called and ordained as a new apostle, bringing valuable global perspective to the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
