Elder Gérald Caussé is the first member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from France and has served the last decade as the Church’s presiding bishop.
On Thursday, Nov., Oaks announced the calling of Elder Gérald Caussé as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He fills the vacancy left by the death of President Russell M.
Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained on Thursday, Nov., by Oaks and other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. At the time of his call, he was serving as the presiding bishop of the Church.
He and his wife, Sister Valérie Caussé, have raised three children in multiple countries, including France, Germany, and the United States.
A native of Bordeaux, France, Elder Caussé is the fourth member of the current Quorum born outside the United States.
