Elder Gérald Caussé Called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday.

He was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other leaders in the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Quorum serves as the second-highest governing body in the Church, with members acting as special witnesses of Christ and managing administrative duties for the global faith.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said Thursday. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”

Born in Bordeaux, France, in 1963, Elder Caussé moved to Paris at age 19. He and his wife, Valérie Babin Caussé, are second-generation Church members. They married in the Bern Switzerland Temple in 1986 and have five children.
