Marvel Rivals’ Danny Koo Reveals Exclusive Details on Zombie Mode and Future Plans

Marvel Games' Executive Producer Danny Koo, who leads Marvel Rivals, shared insights on new content and development at gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show. Nearly 10 months after the game's launch, Koo discussed the evolving roadmap, including the introduction of PvE content and ongoing improvements.

Introducing Marvel Zombie Mode

Marvel Rivals is venturing into new territory with its first PvE mode, called Marvel Zombie Mode. This limited-time event serves as a "testbed" featuring five playable characters who face waves of undead enemies across New York before battling the Queen of the Dead as the final boss.

“It’s the first PvE mode for Marvel Rivals. It only has five characters right now. It’s just like a testbed to see what players like, how the system works, and hopefully in the future we’ll deploy more PvE mode based on data collected from this round of PvE event.”

Collaboration with Marvel Animation

The event includes exclusive assets from Marvel Animation, with character designs closely matching the show. For instance, players can encounter zombie versions of Namor and the Queen of the Dead.

“We have a zombie Namor and a zombie Queen of the Dead from the show. The costumes are very close to the animation.”

Hero Release Schedule and Future Improvements

Koo also touched on the studio’s ambitious plan to release one new hero each month, one of the fastest content pipelines in the hero shooter genre. The team is focused on quality-of-life updates to enhance the overall experience.
