Jannik Sinner secured his first Paris Masters 1000 title on Sunday by defeating Félix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The 24-year-old won 6-4, 7-6 in under two hours, earning his fifth trophy of the season.
With the 1000 ranking points earned from this victory, Sinner leapfrogged Carlos Alcaraz to reclaim the top spot in the ATP world rankings, which are updated on Monday.
"It's been an incredible week and an incredible run in the past couple of months," Sinner said after receiving the winner's trophy from French tennis legend Yannick Noah.
He addressed his coaching team and fans, saying:
"You're always trying to improve as a player and seeing these results at this high level of tennis, I'm very happy to share them with you. It's a very, very, very special day. So thank you so much."
Sinner broke Auger-Aliassime in the opening game and maintained dominance during his service games to close the first set in 44 minutes at Paris La Défense Arena.
Auger-Aliassime showed resilience in the second set, saving two break points early and later fighting off three more in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead before the tiebreak.
Jannik Sinner’s triumph in Paris marks a major milestone as he returns to ATP world number one with consistent top-level performance.
