The Methodist Children's Hospital was especially festive this Halloween as San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie joined Coyote to distribute candy, take photos, and engage with children about basketball, costumes, and anything that could brighten their day.
San Antonio, Texas — Julian Champagnie, usually seen in his Spurs jersey, swapped it for a Scooby-Doo costume during a surprise visit to Methodist Children’s Hospital, bringing joy and treats to young patients and staff alike.
Each year, the hospital celebrates Halloween with themed decorations across units and staff dressed in costumes. They host a reverse trick-or-treating event where hospital leadership goes room-to-room giving out candy instead of children going door-to-door.
Joined by Coyote, Champagnie handed out candy, posed for pictures, and chatted with children about basketball and costumes. The visit was part of the Spurs’ community outreach to uplift spirits and build meaningful connections beyond the court.
“I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see my actual walking dream.” — Jamal Magee, patient at Methodist Children’s Hospital
