A spokesperson for Turning Point USA falsely claimed that a high school's math teachers wore Halloween costumes mocking the assassination of TPUSA cofounder Charlie Kirk. As a result, the teachers have been subjected to online harassment, including death threats and doxing.
On Friday, the math department at Cienega High School in Arizona wore matching, blood-stained white T-shirts with the words “Problem Solved” printed in black across the front. A photo of the group was shared on the Vail School District’s official Facebook page.
Vail School District Superintendent John Carruth stated that no students or parents raised complaints about the costumes during the school day.
On Saturday, Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of Charlie Kirk’s show, shared the picture on X (formerly Twitter) associating the shirts with an insult to Kirk’s memory.
“Concerned parents just sent us this image of what’s believed to be teachers in [Vail School District] mocking Charlie’s murder,” Kolvet wrote. “They deserve to be famous, and fired.”
Kolvet suggested the shirts resembled the “Freedom” T-shirts Kirk wore when he was assassinated at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10.
This unfounded accusation led to serious threats and harassment against innocent teachers, fueled by a misinterpretation of a school Halloween costume.
Author’s summary: False claims about teachers’ Halloween costumes have triggered severe online harassment and death threats, despite no evidence supporting the accusations.
