After more than 30 years under Hervé Poncharal, the Tech3 team is entering a new era in 2026 with Richard Coleman taking over as team manager. Although not widely known among MotoGP fans, Coleman brings valuable experience and a fresh vision to the French team.
Born in 1987 in Britain, Richard Coleman is a blend of engineer and business strategist. He began his motorsport career as an apprentice engineer with Mitsubishi in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and later worked with Chevrolet in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). This hands-on technical experience gave him an insider’s understanding of competitive racing.
Coleman founded Bamboo Engineering, a team that made its mark in WTCC, and worked with various teams in Formula 3, Endurance, and GT Asia series. In 2014, he launched Mayfield Sports Management (MSM), a Silverstone-based agency focused on sports management, marketing, and sponsorship.
“Under his leadership, MSM negotiated over $150 million in sponsorship deals across motorsports, football, and cycling.”
Coleman’s arrival signals a strategic shift for Tech3, blending technical expertise with strong business acumen, and bringing insights from four-wheel racing to the motorcycle world.
