Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event following a confrontation involving Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil and Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch.
During a livestreamed ceremony on November 3, Itsaragrisil called on Bosch to stand and questioned her commitment to promoting the Miss Universe organization.
“Mexico, where are you? I heard you did not agree to post everything about Thailand, about every article of our own activities. Is it true?”
Bosch acknowledged she misunderstood the expected obligations, which provoked a stronger reaction from Itsaragrisil.
“If you follow the orders from your national director, you are a dumb head,” Itsaragrisil said.
He also criticized Bosch for speaking up during the exchange. Bosch responded firmly, emphasizing her right to be heard and demanding respect as a woman.
“I have a voice and I am not being respected as a woman,” Bosch stated.
The viral nature of the livestream has brought significant attention to the controversy.
The incident highlights tensions between organizational leadership and contestants, revealing challenges in communication and respect during high-profile events.
