Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts.
To recognize the sacrifices made by the armed forces, free tram travel will be available for veterans and active members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both days. Participants can access this offer by presenting their military identification or wearing their uniform.
In the days leading up to the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be stationed at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies, and poppies will also be displayed in the windows of trams.
As an additional tribute, services will pause at 11 a.m. for two minutes of silence on both commemorative days, where it is safe to do so.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and with a number of colleagues who also served, we are dedicated to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.” — Lea Harrison, Managing Director, Edinburgh Trams
