Princess Charlene, President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, visited the 2nd edition of the U16 National Team Jersey Design Competition at Collège Charles III on Wednesday morning. The event was filled with vibrant creativity and youthful enthusiasm.
Organized by the Monegasque Rugby Federation in partnership with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, this competition celebrated both artistic talent and sporting spirit.
Nearly 160 students aged 12 to 15, from grades 6 to 9 (equivalent to grades 3 to 6 in the French system), participated. They were challenged to design a rugby jersey that unified the symbols of Monaco and South Africa, along with the emblems of the Federation and the Foundation.
The theme reflected Princess Charlene’s connection between her native South Africa and her adopted home of Monaco, embodying the values of unity, friendship, and respect central to both sport and her personal journey.
Over five weeks, the students, supported by their art teachers, developed imaginative designs inspired by national pride. The outcome was a vibrant collection blending sport, culture, and youthful ambition.
