A 65-year-old Gainesville man, Hayward Eugene Fuller, has been charged with false imprisonment and possession of methamphetamine after a domestic incident.
According to the Habersham County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a reported carjacking on Toccoa Highway on Monday around 5 p.m. However, investigators found that the report was a result of confusion from an uninvolved 9-1-1 caller.
A female victim in Fuller's vehicle was being held against her will, and an altercation occurred between the two. When they stopped at a business, Fuller got out, and the victim fled in the vehicle.
Fuller had an old scab on his arm that began to bleed during the altercation, leading a 9-1-1 caller to incorrectly report a stabbing.
No comment from authorities on the current status of the victim.
