Locust Valley Students Win Filmmaking Award

Three Locust Valley High School filmmakers, Raffaele Giannattasio, Justin Kwok, and Dean Wolfe, won an award for their short film "Chronicle of a Boy Displaced" at the Long Island 72-Hour Film Festival.

Working under the name Piejinks Productions, they had 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit a three- to seven-minute short film.

"We've all made films independently and this presented a challenge to test our creativity,"

said Dean Wolfe. The film earned Best Use of Character and was well-received by the audience.

The festival kicked off on October 17, with each team assigned a unique prompt including a genre, character name, prop, and line of dialogue.
