According to Owen's father, Adam Saidler, the family knew a transplant would be necessary someday. Adam Saidler said,
We knew it was going to be a long journey, and then, we heard years later that he would need a heart someday. So, it’s always been weighing on our minds.
The family found support in their loved ones and faith. Adam Saidler noted,
There’s ups and downs, right? And we’re not the constant in it; God’s the constant in it.
