Educators and students attended a meeting to oppose the Australian Labor government's university restructuring, which aims to transform education to meet the needs of the corporate elite and the war machine.
Over 100 people joined the meeting, titled "Oppose Labor's 'national priorities' university restructuring and job cuts," held in Sydney and online. The meeting was called by rank-and-file committees at Western Sydney and Macquarie universities, the Committee for Public Education (CFPE), and the International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE).
The restructuring is accompanied by the destruction of some 4,000 jobs and is connected to the dictatorial and militarist agenda spearheaded internationally by the Trump regime.
