Callander Knitters Honour Veterans with Poppy Banner
Members of the Callander Public Library Knitting Group have created a commemorative banner to honour local veterans.
“We saw that other Legions had done something similar, and we decided to do it ourselves,”
said Lorna Ryan, a founding member of the knitting group. The banner, measuring 77 inches long by four feet wide, will be presented on Remembrance Day to Legion Branch 445.
Ryan emphasized the importance of the project, saying
“I’ve never missed a Remembrance Day service”and felt this was a nice way to honour veterans.
