The City of Whitehorse's new zoning bylaw rewrite has begun, with the first reading passing unanimously on October 27.
Councillors emphasized the importance of the document, but voiced concerns about the current draft, particularly regarding short-term rental regulations.
"I'm supportive of bringing a bylaw forward to essentially enable the official community plan,"
noted Councillor Paolo Gallina, who believes moving the bylaw forward will help achieve the plan's goals and vision, despite not agreeing with everything in it.
Much has changed since the previous zoning bylaw was passed in 2012, and this new bylaw will have significant implications for the future of Whitehorse.
