According to a report by CNBC, PayPal has signed a contract with OpenAI to integrate its digital wallet into ChatGPT, allowing users to easily pay for product recommendations made by the AI tool.
OpenAI is taking a big step towards turning ChatGPT into an e-commerce platform, hoping to utilize its approximately 700 million weekly active users as a kind of “personal shopper”.
Previously, OpenAI announced that it would enable payments via Walmart, Shopify, and Etsy in the US via Instant Checkout, further expanding its e-commerce capabilities.
