The Berkeley Springs Indians cross country team delivered a thrilling surprise at the Region II Championships, clinching a third-place finish and a berth to the Class AA State Cross Country Championships.
Lincoln and Frankfort secured the top two spots with 28 and 36 points, respectively. However, the Indians rose to the occasion with grit and determination, edging out host Braxton County and South Harrison with a team score of 99 points.
According to Jamie Harris, Bella Shoemaker qualified for states with a 13th place finish.
