Protesters Demand Safer Social Housing in Hackney
Dozens of protesters gathered outside Hackney Town Hall on Monday night, calling for housing reform on the first day of Awaab's Law.
Members of the London Renters' Union (LRU) held up banners and placards with messages such as "stop the suffering, rehouse us now" and displayed pictures of their poor living conditions.

Protesters, including Mariama, shared their personal struggles with the current housing system. Mariama's daughter, 16, suffers from sickle cell anaemia, and the mould in their council flat has "significantly" worsened her health.
