A western district beef farmer, Leigh Maylor, has secured his best-ever growth and yield results using a new approach.
His cattle gained an average of 2.43kg a day between July and October, achieving dressed weights of 60pc.
Maylor, from Ballarat, has properties at Victoria Valley and Woodhouse, and traditionally turned off 500-600 home-bred cattle every year at 2.5 years old.
