Strong wind and torrential rain affected parts of British Columbia, causing thousands to lose power and disrupting travel.
According to Hydro, thousands of people were without power on Vancouver Island, the central Interior, and northern B.C. due to a frontal system moving south through the province.
As of Friday morning, over 7,000 people, primarily in Metro Vancouver, the central Interior, and northern Vancouver Island, remained without power.
- Landslides and road washouts were reported on northern Vancouver Island, including on Head Bay Road and Holberg Road in Port Hardy.
- Ferry sailings between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland were cancelled due to high winds in the forecast for the Strait of Georgia.
