Research suggests that continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) do not accurately reflect blood sugar control in individuals without diabetes.
A study published in Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics found that CGMs are more accurate in people with type 2 diabetes, but less so in those with prediabetes or normoglycemia.
According to the study, associations between hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and CGM metrics were strongest in type 2 diabetes.
Author's summary: CGMs are inaccurate for people without diabetes.
