A gathering of family members to a Thanksgiving dinner for the Tulugak family in 1982 was instrumental in changing the way David Tulugak viewed the real Thanksgiving feeling.
The event took place at Big Mike Tulugak's home, where the family dumped the used dishes on David's youngest sister, Sandra, to be washed, following a tradition where the youngest girl gets the day's dishes.
